Blendology 101
Alright! You made it to day 3! Congratulations! If you have been at any of my other sessions then this session will be the one that ties it all together. On day 1 you learned how to use Google Drive, iMovie, and iBooks. On Day 2 you learned how to use Educreations, iMovie, and Aurasma to develop yourself into a true STEAMPUNK! As with all things in education... learning in isolation can only get you so far. Its time we bring all of these tools together and discuss how they can be used in your classrooms to bring learning to life in a student centered environment.
You've already taken the first steps to transforming your pedagogy... its time to discuss how to be effective with your new knowledge (knowledge learned in my session as well as other Cue Rockstar Faculty sessions).
A blended learning environment is not like the typical victorian era classroom environment we see setup in schools throughout the nation. When walking into a blended learning classroom one should wonder where the front of the room is, because learning becomes a truly all-encompassing endeavor by students, teachers, and visitors to the class.
As with all blended learning classrooms this one is going to be student centered... and you're the students! This is about what you want to know, about what you want to teach.
We will look at Google Drive and Docs.
We will explore social media - Twitter in particular to help you develop your PLN.
We will delve a bit into screencasting.
We will have a brief demo of Augmented Reality.
Then, we will discuss a workflow to help you within your own classroom setting.
Our goal is for you to leave feeling comfortable with the above mentioned blended learning tools and to have a rough outline or idea of how to implement this in your classroom!
It will be beneficial if you:
I will have a few extra iPads to borrow for this session with the apps loaded on them. If you haven't made the choice to use an iPad this is your chance to play and learn.
